Advanced Structural Analysis and Design Methods For Electric Power Lines
Description
Deregulation and competition have changed the electric power industry business environment. The emphasis has shifted from new line construction to the upgrade of existing assets in an attempt to maximize the power transfer on current right-of-ways (ROWs). Consequently, utilities show a strong demand for improved design methods, tools, and computer software that allow utility engineers to design with upgrade lines quickly, reliably, and cost-effectively.
This course is intended to demonstrate the use of advanced analysis and design methods developed by EPRI and Power Line Systems, Inc. The course addresses most aspects involved in the evaluation of new and upgrade designs including loading, sags and tensions, clearances, analysis and design tools, and terrain modeling.
